2025 Asia-Pacific Workshop on Information Systems Concludes Successfully in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – July 11, 2025 – The 2025 Workshop on Information Systems in the Asia Pacific (ISAP 2025), a key component of this year’s Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (July 5-9), was successfully held on July 6th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Distinguished attendees included Professor Wayne Huangof the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Founding Chair of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) Special Interest Group on Information Systems in Asia Pacific (SIG ISAP); current ISAP Chair Professor Shan Liu (Vice Dean, School of Management, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Director, Logistics Technology Innovation Integration Development Research Center); Vice Chair Professor Jian Mou; Co-Chair Professor Dongxiao Gu; Associate Professor Xiaosong Wu; and over 30 other leading academics and industry experts from around the world.

Professor Shan Liu presided over the opening ceremony, warmly welcoming participants to Kuala Lumpur. He presented key statistics on ISAP 2025 submissions, author participation, and lifetime member registrations. Centered on the theme “Sustainable and Inclusive IT Practices: Bridging the Gap in the Asia-Pacific Digital Landscape,” the workshop received 28 paper submissions, with 23 selected for presentation. These papers covered cutting-edge topics such as Human-AI Collaboration, Platform Governance, Online Healthcare, AI Applications, and Digital Transformation, authored by over 100 researchers from six countries. Authors presented their research findings throughout the workshop.

The event featured insightful keynote addresses by Professor Robert Davison from the City University of Hong Kong Business School and Professor Wayne Huang, Chair Professor at SUSTech. An awards ceremony, graced by renowned scholars including Professor Jinlong Zhang of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, recognized outstanding contributions and encouraged young researchers.

During the workshop, the SIG ISAP convened a dedicated council meeting. Discussions focused on the group’s current status, primary challenges, potential solutions, and future strategies to enhance its international influence. The council decided that ISAP 2026 will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
